Our tour guide offered to take a group shot with each of our cameras. I declined and turned the opportunity around to get this unique shot.

It makes for a humorous shot for sure. Our guide offered to take a group photo, but I declined and got this shot. Thanks for the comment.

Caroline, there was NO way I was going to allow my new camera to be jostled on top of the bunch our guide had. So. I did the next best thing and took a picture of him. LOL! So glad you like it.

This made me laugh out loud. I have seen photographers lugging all kinds of gear, so even though the back story isn't funny, the image is a great parody of people who carry way too much gear. You made the right choice.

Location
Shot this in Leadville, Colorado.Time
At the conclusion of a train tour of various trains in Colorado, it was mid day.Lighting
The sun was casting light from a southwest direction.Equipment
I had my new Canon Powershot SX10 with zoomInspiration
This occasion marked the end of our train tour and our guide offered to take a group shot with each of our cameras. As my camera was new at the time, I was reluctant to have anyone unfamiliar with it attempting to use it. Also , I didn’t want it bouncing against all the other cameras hanging on his neck. So I made an impromptu decision, and took a shot of him instead.Editing
The only processing I did was a small crop to eliminate some background distraction. In my camera bag
Today I carry my latest camera, a Sony NEX 7 with lens hood, a monopod, an 18-200 zoom lens, 18-55 Sony lens, and a polarizing filter.Feedback
Take advantage of circumstances and keep a sharp eye out for the unusual. Sometimes the best shots are not planned. Look up for unusual skies. Look down for something easily overlooked. Even landscapes sometimes need a visual reference, such as a distant figure, to provide perspective. Look for reflections, Learn the various capabilities of your camera and try something different.
