Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in Medicine Mound, a ghost town near Paduca Texas

Time

This was taken early afternoon

Lighting

there were a few clouds but light was still pretty harsh

Equipment

This was taken with a Canon 5D mkIII and 16-35mm MKIII F2.8L lens

Inspiration

I was camping nearby and exploring the area. I've shot Medicine Mound several times, it disappears a bit more each time :(

Editing

This was massaged using LIghtroom

In my camera bag

I normally carry a Canon RP or 80D (I finally wore out the shutter in my trusty 70D) with a Sigma 18/300mm mounted, and a 5D Mk III with any number of lenses, ranging from a 8mm diagonal fisheye to a Sigma 200-500mm telephoto depending on what I'll be shooting. I'm usually looking for cool things at random while traveling, so I often don't plan shots beforehand - I'm a pretty impromptu/opportunistic photographer. I've found I spend the most time with various prime lenses and the 18-300mm Sigma though, the Sigma's range lets you capture almost anything on the fly and reduces the need for lens changes out in the open

Feedback

There are several websites that will list ghost towns, including Wikipedia - some are a lot more interesting than others!
