Achilles tangs are tropical fish that inhabit the area of Pacific coral reefs called the surge zone or reef crest. Here water breaks over a shallow portion of the reef, creating strong currents and filling the water with oxygen. I photographed this beautifully marked specimen in the Waikiki Aquarium.
