Behind The Lens

Location

In my garden, where I had been working on a client's car.

Time

Around sunset, so the light was pretty low.

Lighting

The diffuse light reflected from my white wall served nicely to fill in the late afternoon light coming through the white hibiscus

Equipment

My D800 because it was in my car next to it. The 180 Sigma Macro because it was actually meant to take pictures of plugs. But then I use it for many different purposes.

Inspiration

Arwen was, as he often does, inspecting my work and the client's car. he just did a round under the bonnet to check the levels.

Editing

pulled up the shadows a bit and set the colour balance to daylight, then fiddled a bit with the curve . I really don't like to distort natural pictures much, apart from the odd black and white conversion

In my camera bag

My d4, the said macro lens, various manual lenses (12 or 18mm wide angle, one of the 28, 35 or 55mm vintage Nikkors depending on my mood, or a 24-70 and most of the time a Tamron 2.8 300mm from the 80s.

Feedback

Let you cats participate in your working life, that is one benefit of working at home. They brighten up the day and always find things behind seats. I have so many funny shots of working cats!
