Location
I took this photo in our backyard in March as the males were getting their breeding colors.Time
AfternoonLighting
I only use natural lighting and try to shoot morning or late afternoon.Equipment
I shoot Nikon and this picture was hand held with no filters. I used my Nikon Coolpix P 610, my first DLSR.Inspiration
My mother’s favorite bird was the Cardinal. I bought my first digital camera ( Coolpix P610) a few months after she passed and this was one of the first shots I took with it. I’m sure she was watching.Editing
I usually do some post processing and on this I cropped, enhanced the color a bit and sharpened it. I don’t have an expensive post process app but I enjoy the one I do use.In my camera bag
In my bag I have a Nikon Coolpix P610 and a Nikon D7100 with a variety of lens and filters. The D7100 with the 70-300mm lens is my go to nature set up and the P610 is my moon shot go to.Feedback
I would say to others just go out and have fun ( and patience). Find a camera you are comfortable with and a subject that you enjoy shooting. Shoot often and practice, observe what the experts shoot and with what and just have fun.
