I took this photograph on a private estate in Hillsborough NJ. It was a beautiful sunny summer day!Time
I had a blast with this shoot, the fabulous model seen here, Cat Meerlo, was accompanying her sister Tina Meerlo who took care of MUAH and styling. I clearly remember having to battle the harsh shadows because it was right after noon.Lighting
The natural light of the day was very strong at this point. Honestly we just worked with it. After this shot we moved into the shadows and broke out the off camera flash.Equipment
I went with my "go to" for this image, Nikon D610 and Tamron 70-200 f/2.8Inspiration
We saw this stairway to nowhere, out in a field, how can you not run over and take some shots!Editing
The ice background is a stock image I purchased to create the image you see, I also used stock images of smoke and ice. I also used brushes from a plugin in order to create the ice magic. Plugins used were by Nik and Painter. All other work was done in Lightroom and Photoshop. In my camera bag
I often travel with my Nikon D7100 with a 17-55 f/2.8, my D610 with the Tamron 70-200 f/2.8, and an off camera flash with trigger. I prefer using Natural light though.Feedback
The biggest advice I can offer when trying to create an image like this is to capture and use images that are shot at the same angle and perspective. This will allow the compositing of the images to flow much easier and take a lot less work. Make sure your horizon line matches up and the angle of your camera is the same for each image you are using. These tips will make your life so much easier!
