Great photo! Just wondering what lens you used to capture this? I love macro photography but never seem to be able to get this close. Congratulations on the winning entry.

Fantastic macro shot! Especially that captured droplet on the eyeball. Will appreciate if you can share about gear you used to take this shot.

Who knew that the fly was so beautiful and yet so ugly. You are quite an artist!

This is a great Macro shot and really fits the brief well done, looks like a Robber fly?.👌

The great thing about macro is some days the photos come to you, this was one of those days when I found a fly in my back gardenTime
It was evening, I was about to fire up the BBQ when I saw the fly and dinner had to waitLighting
Was still fairly bright but I use a flash with most of my macro pics.Equipment
This was a canon 5d mkiii, a canon mp-e65 lens and a canon mt24 ex flashInspiration
I love trying to get in close, and eyes are really interesting, when the fly was so still it all came together.Editing
No need on this oneIn my camera bag
Usually a couple of maco lenses and a couple of telephoto prime lenses for wildlife.Feedback
The flash makes a big difference as it allows a small aperture and more of the shot in focus. Be patient and move really slowly
