I made this photograph on Tuesday August 4th., 2015 at Owls Head in Maine.Time
I had risen at 3am, quick shower to wake up. Driving out to Owls head I picked up a doughnut and large coffee. Nothing better to wake up with in the early morning. The photograph was made at 5:39am.Lighting
Morning light is a photographer's light bucket in that the light during the early morning hours is the time in which the light is silver, coats your subject with a blanket of infused light, and makes one feel blessed to be alive.Equipment
Camera: NIKON D810 F/2.8 at 1/80 ISO 64. 15mm lens.Inspiration
The inspiration and the resulting image of my photograph came from a merger of how I felt within, and in the envelope of nature as experienced by me at the time. The photo is a selfie of me and nature.Editing
Most all of the time, my post processing of digital files is in line with my darkroom printing that reveals an expressive print. In my camera bag
My love is large format photography. I haul in by backpack a 4x5 modified Wista, 2 lenses (one a bit long, and one a bit short), a pentax spot meter, and filters. I use a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod with a 3 way tilt head. In addition, I bring with me a thermos of coffee, and peanut butte sandwiches.Feedback
Photograph from within. Open yourself up to absorb a sense of place. Imagine that you are writing a story; let the story unfold, using your senses to create.
