Behind The Lens
Location
On the Banks of Leslie Dam Warwick Queensland AustraliaTime
I take my 2 dogs to the Dam every afternoon for a swim and a run and after their exercise i drive around the banks of the dam looking for something to photograph. It was winter around 430pm and the local mob of Kangaroo's had venture out of the bush to graze on the the grasses. i took this shot out of the window of my car bracing myself against the sides as my dogs were barking and it would not be long before they would run off.Lighting
This was a capture of opportunity and not a lot of thought went into the shot as it was last light of the golden hour and the Roo's are quite flighty. When i spied this mob there was a nice glow across the grasses and i had my camera on my lap i quickly shot a couple of shots then the light was gone and i luck out with a couple of nice pic's.Equipment
Canon 600D with a kit lens 55-250mm attached no other equipment usedInspiration
It was an opportunistic moment when everything looked perfect if i had drove past 5 minutes earlier or later i probably would not have taken the shot.Editing
I shoot in RAW then do a few tweaks in Corel Aftershot Pro 2 before watermarking and re-sizing in Corel Paintshop proIn my camera bag
As an Amateur Photographer, i don't have a lot of gear and it all fits into a back pack so i take it all. I have Canon 600D fitted with a battery grip, the 2 kit lenses that came with it, a sigma 10-20mm f3.5 lens, Tamron 90mm macro, Y460 speed light, macro ring flash, filters, cleaning gear, batteries, Vintage light meter and a combination tripod monopod. - See more at: http://www.viewbug.com/photo/57647801?it#photopageFeedback
to capture the local wildlife you have to have your camera ready to go because you may only have moments to capture your subject, so if i am driving around looking for something to capture i always have my camera on my lap and i can usually brace myself against the car or if i am walking around i will have the camera attached to the monopod or tripod.
