Location
I captured this image at the Myakka River State Park near Sarasota, Florida, USATime
The photo was tak.n in January, just after the sun disappeared below the horizon at the end of a sunset.Lighting
The lighting was provided by a spectacular red sunset.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7100 with a Nikor 18 - 140 mm lens. The shot was handheldInspiration
I regularly visit the Myakka River State Park. Sandhill cranes gather there in great numbers during the winter months. However, I was not expecting such a great turnout of the birds that day.Editing
I cropped the image slightly with Photoshop. The colors were not enhanced but are pretty much as they appeared in person. In my camera bag
I normally carry the Nikkor 70 - 300 lens for bird photography in the Park.Feedback
When capturing sunset images, continue shooting even after the sun disappears. You never know what photographic opportunities may arise before the light eventually disappears.
