Boy! This is a Gene Kelly moment perfectly captured. Gene Kelly was a dancer-actor-singer whose best movie was "Singing in the Rain." This is excellent.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in 2011, in Tallinn, Estonia. It was a wedding trip after the ceremony.

Time

We just walked around the city in search of beautiful places and streets to take pictures. Suddenly it began to rain, and we hid under a canopy pizzeria. I always ask for the wedding to take an umbrella, and I was lucky that the couple carried out this instruction. Therefore, we were able to make this photo.

Lighting

The sky is tightened clouds, lighting becomes soft and uniform, and because of the rain at a short distance from the subject can be seen aerial perspective.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D3s, with an Nikkor 80-200 2.8D. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

I've always wanted to do a similar picture at the wedding. And I was very lucky that the heavy downpour started, and the pair agreed a bit to get wet during a walk.

Editing

Photo left so successful that almost did not require treatment. Mainly in RAW I had to change the color temperature, sharpen and crop.

In my camera bag

Usually, when I photograph a wedding, I take the "wedding" kit. It includes Nikon Df, Nikkor 50 1.8G, Nikkor 24-70 2.8, Sigma 15mm 2.8 Fisheye, Sigma 24 1.4 Art, Sigma 35 1.4 Art, Samyang 24mm tilt-shift, Nikkor 85 1.4D, Tamron 15-30 2.8 and Nikon sb-910 speedlight. With such a focal length and aperture I can take pictures of practically any wed plot at any time of the day. In 2011, I had Nikon D3s, Nikkor 85 1.4D, Nikkor 50 1.4D, Sigma 20 1.8, Nikkor 80-200 2.8D, Sigma 15mm 2.8 Fisheye and Nikon sb-800 speedlight.

Feedback

Predict in advance the model shoot very difficult in the rain, but because of the weather forecast - it is still possible. Normally, to be seen in the photo raindrops, depth of field should not be very big, and the holding time - just short. As a result, you should get the picture, which are sharp shooting model and drops close to the model.
