Location
Jervis bay, NSW, Australia.Time
this was taken at night time.Lighting
first thing you see when you get out of the car and look towards the beach was the sparking blue glow when the waves crashed. walking along the beach found an angle to include the city lights in far distance and the sea sparkling as the waves receded on the beach creating interesting blue contrast with the orange glow.Equipment
Nikon D7200, Tokina 11-16mm, sirui compact carbon fibre travel tripod.Inspiration
since the day i knew about sea sparkle with a image shown on front page of news paper i have been watching out for years for right conditions to get this photo. had 2 failed attempts last few years this time the bio has stayed around over the weekend. i still wish to get milkyway in the shot.Editing
did the usual raw edit to a night photo. The town light in background i kept it warm while colour correcting the sea sparkle to what i remember on the night. i have used Topaz Denoise to reduce noise artifacts. In my camera bag
i usually like to carry light on night photography my 2 cameras Nikon D800E/D7200 and 2lensTokina 11-16mm, Nikkor 50mm 1.8 sirui tripod, 2 spare batteries, cloth for cleaning lens, led lenser headlamp.Feedback
when starting out test different settings to expose for the brightness of the waves and at same time enough light for the foreground. i did 20-30sec to get the sparkle in the sand as the water receded. get as many angles as you can this could be once in life time shot.
