I like how you captured heart, soul and emotion of this young lady. Those eyes, O those eyes I just can't get away from those eyes. I can't quite put my finger on the feelings that are behind them. I see a longing like she wants to reach out. I'm not sure, but like any good portrait I find a connection. I also find a real person, not an illusion. Good Job.

Thank you Charles, I think you're pretty much spot on with your evaluation and I appreciate your kind words.

Location
This portrait was captured at my home studio during a portfolio update for the model 'Lydia'.Time
I personally like to shoot natural light portraits later on in the day when the light is a little softer and I can control it better.Lighting
My studio has one large window, which lets lots of light in during late afternoon, the only additional light which you can see on the left hand side of the models face, are the warm lights on my studio walls.Equipment
This portrait was shot using my NIKON D800 (Aperture f/1.8 - ISO 800 - Shutter 1/250 - Focal Length 500/10) with a good old NIKON Nifty Fifty on the front, one of my all time favourite lenses.Inspiration
Natural light portrait photography has forever been a passion of mine and it's something I always ask any model that comes into my studio to do. 9/10 they are not prepared for it and it can be a little daunting to some, but I believe that is when you get your best shots... so expect the unexpected.Editing
Other than slight colour adjustments in camera raw, I try not do a lot of editing, but if anything does need cleaning up, then I will always use Adobe Photoshop. In my camera bag
NIKON camera bodies and lenses, flash guns, colour filters, batteries, memory cards and a good old energy bar to keep me going!Feedback
Honestly... 'Just have fun'... break the rules a little bit, photography is their for us all to enjoy, no matter what level you're at or what equipment you use. I've taken many of my best portraits on a NIKON D3200, so just let your creativity and passion for photography shine through. Practice with light, try different angles and options, dont spend a lot of money on it, because nobody sees the kit you use, only the end result, so focus on that... I'm always willing to message back on my images, so stay in touch! Good Luck.
