Gorgeous. I love how soft it gets falling away from her face, a stunning capture on her face though, and those eyes...

Behind The Lens

Location

The photograph was taken at an apartment that I rent in Liverpool, UK.

Time

It was taken around midday, it was the middle of March and the weather was dry and bright, it had that fresh spring feeling in the air.

Lighting

The lighting is all natural/available light, it is my preferred method because I can retain skin tones and textures better.

Equipment

This image was captured with my Nikon D800 and 85mm lens, I don't use a tripod on this style of shot because I find they restrict positioning and the angles I wish to shoot from, there was no other lighting used other than available light.

Inspiration

I'm inspired by natural beauty and I enjoy photographing people that are body confident. Working on projects like this is a huge confidence boost to both the model and the photographer, it takes time capturing the right pose, look and lighting, and if all are executed correctly then you will end up with some truly stunning images to be proud of.

Editing

I only ever use PS, I don't have/own any other software. If I do any P-P, then it is to remove any blemishes, marks or spots etc that can draw your eye away from what you're actually trying to achieve. I will also add some slight D&B if required, just to enhance certain features.

In my camera bag

Nikon cameras (D800's) and a selection of lenses ranging from a Tokina 12mm to a Nikon 300mm, I carry 3 Yongnuo speed lights for other shoot styles, 2 x Godox battery packs, a selection of gels, triggers, cleaning equipment, spare batteries and my glasses.

Feedback

I would honestly say 'Just have fun!', you really do need a model that you can communicate with very easily and you have to take control of the shoot, give plenty of direction and listen to suggestions, the model will know his/her body better than you, they will know what they like/don't like about themselves, you have to play to your strengths. Plan ahead, talk about ideas, put a mood board together and don't ever be afraid to ask for help. Always remember, you have to get it wrong to get it right!
