Location
I took this shot along the beachfront walkway. I went out reasonably early to get some shots for my portfolio. The lead-lines drew me into this shot.Time
I shot this early "ish" in the morning: around 8.45. The weather was windy, and the seas big. I once lived on the other side of the road and looked at this view regularly. I miss it, so I wanted some good shots. I thought the bad weather would result in boring shots, but the eerie light helped make the image more evocative.Lighting
The light was excellent, but the RAW files looked too flat. A small amount of post-processing brought back the atmosphere and interesting light that I had originally observed...Equipment
I shot this with my Nikon D700 with a 14-24mm f2.8 lens. Standing under the tree helped prevent unwanted flare.Inspiration
I was looking for shots and I knew I was leaving the next day so I sought out some interest angles to get the look I was after.Editing
Post-processing involved the usual RAW conversion plus some exposure adjustments and colour filters. In my camera bag
I always carry my D700 and at least one lens.Feedback
Don't be discouraged by bad weather, it often provides moodiness to your shots.
