If you look close you can see a Marmont on the roof of the old cabin, hence the name. Found this on the way from Crested Butte CO, to Gunnison, CO via backroads and thought the fall colors contrasted with the snow worked great and the old cabin for the foreground really put the elements in place.

Just started reviewing your gallery. VERY IMPRESSIVE. Love this one with such a mixture of color: snow, browns, and green and yellow on the trees. :-)

Thanks, was trying also to get a bit of a reflection but the puddle wasn't quite big enough. The Marmont on the roof was extra ; D

Appreciate the comment Ron. First time we ever saw this. Been to the area around Crested Butte before, mostly along the Kebler Pass area.

I would like that. This image was very popular when I first posted it and still ranks high in contests, but it would be nice to receive more. Thanks.

Location
Found this on the way from Crested Butte CO, to Gunnison, CO via back roads. I initially drove past this but turned around as I though I saw something on the roof. Good decision!Time
It was late morning just before lunch.Lighting
Lighting was not the best time for photography with the sun almost directly overhead, but that did provide a little for the slightly shaded side of the cabin. It was a bluebird day and the contrast of the blue sky, snow on the mountains and golden aspens was wonderful.Equipment
I shot this hand held with a Canon 5D Mark II using an EF 24-105mm f/4 lens. My settings were f/16, 1/125 sec and ISO 320.Inspiration
As I drove by I thought I saw something on the roof and when I turned around and got closer you could see a marmont on the roof, thus the name "Marmont Cabin". You have to zoom in on the photo to see it. I am glad I also spotted the small puddle in front of the cabin and wish it had been bigger to capture more of a reflection.Editing
I used Lightroom and made just basic adjustments. In my camera bag
I have two bags and each has a purpose. The bag with my 5DMKII (Full Frame Camera) has my 16-35mm f/2.8, 24-105mm f4.0 and 70-200 f/2.8, mainly for everything except wildlife. The bag with the 50D (APS-C) has 24-70 f/2.8 and 300mm prime is mainly for wildlife. If I am traveling by car I take it all, which was the case for this trip. If traveling overseas only bag one goes unless going for wildlife, for that I take bag one with both cameras and swap 70-200 for 300 prime. I also carry a set of Lee Graduated ND filters as well as a polarizer. I also carry a tripod at all times but this time was a little lazy and did not use it.Feedback
Be ready for whatever comes around the bend of a road and have the right gear with you. Get out during the fall if you want images like this and plan ahead.
