Wonderful fall background for this raptor. The fence adds to the attraction of this image.

Location
This was taken on the back roads in Calgary Alberta, I was on my way to photograph some ducks in a near by pond when I came across this beautiful raptor sitting on the fence post. I was able to pull over and take a couple of shots before he flew off the post.Time
This was taken on an autumn day about mid-day. Sometimes you don't have control over what time of day you see wildlife.Lighting
As this was mid-day I was lucky that it was a bit overcast which helped to not over expose the background too much.Equipment
My Sigma 150-500 mm was on my Nikon D800 and as I pulled over I grabbed my camera and used the open window to rest my camera on to minimize camera shake.Inspiration
This was a case of being in the right place at the right time...so luck played an important part in the inspiration of this image.Editing
I brought it into ACR and did some minor adjustments then into Photoshop where I cropped some of the lower fence out.In my camera bag
On this occasion I only had my Nikon D800 and the Sigma 150-500 mm lens attached.Feedback
Be patient and keep an eye open for an unexpected opportunity.
