I got to the location really early to setup my equipment and waited for the lighting and colors.Equipment
Canon 60d, Canon 18-135 mm lens, tripod and remote shutter release.Inspiration
I had taken some photos previously at this location when the clouds rolled thru and around the mountains and wanted to try again sometime during an early morning sunrise to capture some color in the clouds.Editing
Minor color correction and stitched 3 images together to create a wide panoramaIn my camera bag
Canon 60d, Canon 18-135mm, Tamron 70-300mm, Canon 50mmFeedback
I do a lot of hiking and have several locations that are easy to get to and I know well for safety reasons, especially when I'm out alone. Knowing weather patterns and the effects they can create in certain locations can really increase the chances to capture something special. I always keep a flash light in my camera bag to move around and setup in the dark. I like tripods that have a hook on the bottom to hang my back pack to add weight for stability. I also like to use a remote shutter to minimize camera shake. I shoot in Camera Raw and do all my post processing in Photoshop. For this particular image I made sure my camera was level on the tripod. I rotated the camera carefully to make an overlap side by side to take 3 images to stitch together in Photoshop for a panorama. There are a lot of Youtube videos that show step by step to stitch images for panorama pictures.
