The very 1st time I wanted to try a night exposure of the Milky Way my fellow photographer friend Dani and I started out at Calico Basin practicing exposures. He had to head home since it was getting late and I made a last minute decision to drive down the road by Red Rock National Recreational Area on my way home. My favorite non fee area of the park is the First Creek pull off area. I decided to stop by and practice some more of what I had just learned and snapped this image.Editing
I used the selection tool in Photoshop to select and adjust the exposure, levels and contrast on the mountains then selected the sky and adjusted exposure, curves and contrast separately. After I deselected both of them I did a final contrast.In my camera bag
Canon 60d, Canon 18-135mm, Pro Master 11-18mm and Tamron 70-300mmFeedback
I set the lens focus at infinity and aperture at f/3.5 with a starting point of ISO of 1250 and shutter of 20/1. I then take multiple exposure adjusting just my ISO and shutter up and down to have several different exposures to choose from in post processing.
