After the Andalusian city of Testour, we go to the archeological site of Dougga ????????????????❤️????☕????
Dougga, or Thugga, is undoubtedly the most prestigious archaeological site of Tunisia. Several factors combine to give it a place apart in the Tunisian archaeological landscape: its location on a spur overlooking the rich valley of the Mejerdah (Thugga, in Libyan language, means greenery), the extent of the site that spans several dozens of hectares and covers several historical eras, the case of vegetation - in particular the centuries-old olive forest - which surrounds it and, of course, the excellent state of conservation of most monuments that some of which, such as the capitol or the theater, were "re-established" during a campaign conducted after the First World War. ????????????????❤️????☕????
Thus, from "dolmens" to the Byzantine fortifications, all the stages of the progression of the history of ancient Africa are illustrated on the ground by monuments of good quality, buildings which are placed among the most elegant or the Mediterranean islands, such as the capitol, the theater, the Lybico-Punic mausoleum, or the superb patrician houses. ????????????????❤️????☕????
Dougga has been inscribed on the World Heritage List and established as a National Archaeological Park ????????????????❤️????☕????
