Location
This photo was taking in Troy, NY during a self-imposed photowalk while I worked downtown.Time
In reality, this photo was taken at noon on a sunny day. July 20th, 2007 at 12:04pm.Lighting
Lighting effect on this image was done in Photoshop and ACR.Equipment
Taking with a Nikon D80 using the 18-200 f/3.5-56 lens using 1/800 sec @ f5.56 at 70mm.Inspiration
I have always been interested in architecture and found the geometric shapes and sharp angles of the buildings in the alley fascinating.Editing
I used Photoshop to do basic color correction and toning of the original color image. I then bought the image into ACR and converted it to monochrome, pulled the exposure all the way down and added some clarity. I then used the radial filter to add some selective lighting on the buildings. Then I bought the image back into Photoshop to add the streaking clouds, do a little more sharpening and touch up.In my camera bag
Currently I use a Nikon Z6 for most of my professional shoots and an Olympus EM-D10 Mark III as my carry around camera (lightweight and has all the features I could want).Feedback
Look for unique architecture viewpoints. Look UP at different angles, shoot just parts of buildings, etc. In images like this it's about lines and feeling more than it is about the subject itself, at least for me.
