Late afternoon.Lighting
I organised a shoot in a house in Shoreditch for several models covering various fashion themes. Mareeha, in the photo chose a vintage theme & we had the hair done by a hair & MUA in a style of Amy Winehouse. The light is 100% natural sunlight in he late afternoon as it poured down the street.Equipment
Canon 5d MkII & a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 Lens...no flash.Inspiration
We had done a few photos with me hanging out of one window on the first floor of a house with her looking out of another. I spotted someone walking up the road seeing their shadow first & thought hmmm I have an idea, so I sent her downstairs into the road staying on the first floor myself positioned her set a few poses to get things just right & the image you see is the result. We both loved it!Editing
Just 100% desaturated the road.In my camera bag
On a studio style shoot such as this Canon 5d MkII - Canon 24-105 - Sigma 24-70 f2.8 - Sigma 70-200 f2.8 couple of 580ex flash guns & a reflector.Feedback
Be very lucky with the light as I was then run through a few poses to get what suits your model/subject best & have an elevated position to shoot your subject. Talk your subject through what you are doing to keep them up to speed with what you are doing, such as “ ok, here we go & take the pose & hold, hold, hold it & that’s it relax” I use this method to keep the model as I want him/her until I’ve got a shot or two, then if needed we go again with any alterations to the pose once I’ve looked at my shot, it’s tried & tested & works well, give it a go & let me know if it worked for you too, Steve
