Location
This was taken near Hadera, Israel, less than 30 minutes from my home.Time
Around 10am - the Bee-Eaters come to Israel to nest every year, and when they do, I meet them there whenever I can. So this morning I was ready for them when they started flying about to catch insects for their younglings.Lighting
Lighting is far from perfect here. It was a sunny day, and the sun was high up in the sky.Equipment
This was shot with a Panasonic Lumix GX8 and a Panasonic-Leica 100-400 f/4-6.3 zoom lens.Inspiration
The wonderful Bee-Eaters that come to nest in Israel every year. What else is necessary? :)Editing
Some cropping and color corrections. In my camera bag
I'm now using a Panasonic Lumix G9, the same lens (Panasonic Leica 100-400), plus a Panasonic Leica 12-60 f/2.8-4 lens. And some assorted filters.Feedback
You need to get to know the animals you want to photograph. What are their habits? What time of day are they active? Where? How to get close enough without disturbing them.
