This courageous female Common Kestrel let me get close enough to fill the frame.
Kestrel are small Falcons, barely larger than a Dove. They are wonderful hunters, catching rats, mice, insects, smaller birds, etc. They are never afraid to stand up against larger raptors - I've seen one scare away a Buzzard twice its size!
What an impressive and beautiful raptor she is!
