Location
The photo was taken in Antarctica, the White continent in an Island name Gold Harbor.Time
I got a say, that day was amazing!!! We landed in Gold Harbor around 4am to view the sunrise, witch is one of the most amazing thing I´ve ever seen. Because it rises in the great mountains, the ocean and the wildlife so it´s an amazing spectacle. Everything becomes Gold so it´s really something. When I took these photo it was around 9 or 10 in the morning. In this island there is a King penguin colony so I had the chance to make this composition integrating the great glaciar, the mountains and the King penguins with theor chicks. It was one of the best days of my life!!!Lighting
Well, it´s very hard to have control of the light in this kind of conditions and it was hard in this composition because I wanted it to have the mountains, specially the snow of the mountains and the glaciar with the right light without burning it and also the birds. So I have to make many shots with different set up. The good thing was that the light was very even, the clouds started to come right up at us and the whole place so that helped a lot to have a better light and a Little bit warm.Equipment
Well I used a canon 40D to make that photo with a 16-35mm 2.8 canon lens. know I got a canon mark III and a canon mark II. But that day I used that one. I was also carrying a 70-200mm 2.8 canon lens you know so I could be closer to the penguins.Inspiration
ufff... I thing everything. I mean if you see this photo you can realize that the landscape was amazing. I had everything I could ask infront of me, the wild, the nature and an amazing light together I just had to make the right set up in my camera, focus and make the photo. Since we arrived to the island everything was amazing, I knew I would never seen anything like this again in my life. Such an amazing world and place. It change you for ever. And the very few people like me that have the chance to see this place are so lucky and fortunate.Editing
Well, I did fix a Little bit the levels of the photo and the White balance. In my camera bag
Well to start I have my to cameras the 5D mark III and the 5D mark II. The lens that I use depends a Little bit on the type of photo I´ll be doing, but I usually carry my canon 16-35mm 2.8F, 70-200mm 2.8F, 50mm. 2.5F, 35mm 1.4F. My trípode, two flashes, betteries, memory cards a lot of them, a cleaner.Feedback
Well first of all you have to make a quick look of the place where you are, all the posible angles. If it´s an amazing landscape you have to check your light, I thing thats the most important thing, and the light its changing all the time so you have to be fixing you´re set up exposition everytime, you have to make you´re set up according with the whites that you have so you make sure that you don´t burn them and everything become overexpose. The rest is to put all your elements inside your frame making a great composition!!!
