Mid-afternoon, around 3pmLighting
Sunlight filtered by the canopy created just the right amount of glowEquipment
Canon 5DMKII fitted with a Canon EF 17-40 f/4.0L, mounted on a Manfrotto 190CX3ProInspiration
Its a cliche shot, but the orange glow along the canopy had to be captured. I did get some curious looks while I was framing this, though. I wanted to get as close to the ground as possible to get as mush of the scene as possible. The tripod was adjusted so the camera was about a foot off the ground. To frame, focus, and expose this shot, I had to lie on my back while people were walking around me.Editing
I did crop the scene a little to tighten the frame, and adjusted the saturation to make the orange pop a little more.In my camera bag
Normally the following; Canon 5DMKII, Canon 7D and occasionally a Life Pixel modified T1i. Canon 17-40 f/4L or 24-70 f2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L ISII, Canon 50mm f/1.4 Lee Filter system, Lee GND filters, SinghRay RGND Yongnou wireless triggers Wrigleys Cobalt gum. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on what I want to shoot. This day, I traded out my IR T1i for a 580exII strobe, as I was also shooting some portraits of my daughter and her friend.Feedback
Keep your eyes open and get ready to get dirty. This is a cliche shot, but with a little extra effort, you can add your own spin to it.
