Location
This image was made at a Maasai village in Kenya in Maasai Mara National Park. Their homes are built in a circle with the central area used as a safe place to keep their cattle. I shot this image wide and low to capture the scene and show how high the men can jump. Shooting like this was a challenge as there was cow dung everywhere. I was thankful for my yoga practice as I was able to squat low and keep only the bottoms of my shoes touching the ground.Time
We left our camp after lunch and drove 30 minutes or so to this village. They greeted us with a welcome song and dance, then invited us into the village and into their homes.Lighting
Clouds were starting to roll in when we arrived. I love the interest they add to the sky and the scene.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon R5 with a Rf 15-35mm 2.8 lens. No tripod, flash or filter.Inspiration
I have always been fascinated by different cultures and jumped at the chance to visit this village. As soon as I saw the men jumping I knew I had to get low and wide to hopefully emphasized the energy of the scene.Editing
There wasn't much post processing to do on this image. I did some simple highlights and shadow adjustments. In my camera bag
It all depends on what I'm shooting, but I almost always have my Canon R5, the RF 100-500mm, RF 24-105mm and the RF 15-35mm.Feedback
I forget that the 15-35 can be used for more than night photography (why I usually have it in my bag.) This image shows how you can get a unique perspective of a scene by going wide....and low!
