Behind The Lens
Location
I made this image while visiting a monastery in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Every morning the monks go out to collect alms (food in this case) from the community, but there are volunteers back at the monastery that prepare rice and perhaps soup to help round out the monks’ midday meal.Time
This was mid day as she was preparing lunch.Lighting
The light was beautiful coming in the dark kitchen. I waited for her to pour the water out in hopes of catching the steam.Equipment
Olympus omd em1 with 12-40mm 2.8 lens. No tripod or filter.Inspiration
I love behind the scenes images of people doing everyday things. When traveling it’s always special when people allow you to photograph them.Editing
Just a little tweaking in Lightroom, (highlights, shadows and exposure) but this is mostly as it was shot.In my camera bag
It depends on where I’m going. For cities, I will have my Olympus omd em1 because it’s small and easy to throw in a bag and go. If I’m going out to shoot wildlife, I take my canon R5 which will most likely have the RF 100-500 on it. That combo is amazing for wildlife.Feedback
Take your time to study a scene without you camera so you can understand the important elements of the experience. That will help you figure out what is important and how you want to convey that feeling in your image.
