I love how the littlest detail gives a beautiful perspective to the picture and on the road itself.

Breathtaking! That looks my home for 30 years. RedRock Canyon but there are many spots in the Southwest just like this road. Arizona Nevada Utah and New Mexica

Behind The Lens
Location
Near my home of Las Vegas @ Valley of Fire.Time
Closer to sunset where the sun hid behind the mountain but not quite set under the horizon yet.Lighting
Usually this area gets very red and bright when the sun hits it. I wanted to wait for the sun to be low enough for that not to quite happen. Catching all the details in the foreground while still highlighting the back mountain.Equipment
Sony A7R2 with a Sony 70-200 f/4. My go to lens for light weight carry and beautiful compressed shots.Inspiration
Always been an idea of mine but never executed it. At the time, a recent break up actually gave me the motivation to go out and take this shot.Editing

Use a 70-200 to capture this road even if you have to go further back. The compression of the mountain behind it is what I believe makes the photo. Going wide with a wide angle will eliminate that and make it just look like a tiny hump in the background.
