Location
This photo was taken at the Helsinki International Airshow, Finland last year.Time
It was about 4 PM. It was a sunny Summer day.Lighting
The lighting is all natural. The B&W conversion highlighted all the right parts of the image and very little was needed to correct lighting wise.Equipment
This was shot with Canon 5D mk II and Canon 100-400mm L lens hand held.Inspiration
I've been shooting at Airshows a few times but never really captured anything that would made me really satisfied. The images tend to look the same airshow after airshow. This time I even considered leaving the camera home. Yet I didn't. I shot a couple of hundred of images and when I captured this one I felt this time I have captured something different.Editing
Black and White conversion was the first thing I did. The color version just didn't look interesting. Otherwise very little has been done. The plane has been highlighted a bit. The photo has been cropped as 400mm wasn't quite long enough lens.In my camera bag
The set I normally carry with me contains a Canon 5D mk II body and 50mm f/1.2, 135mm f/2 lenses.Often I back a 15mm fisheye too. My choice of mobile camera is Lumia 950 XL. For airshows the Canon 100-400mm L is my choice thought I would back a 500mm lens with me if I would just have one.Feedback
Airshow are photogenic both in the air and on the ground. There is a whole lot to capture with wider angle lenses too. What comes to the actual airshow try to find an angle that's not the most obvious one. The place where all the other photographers are does not always provide the most interesting view point.
