Location
This photo was taken in my living room in London, Ontario Canada.Time
This was taken mid morning.Lighting
Luna likes to bask in the morning light of the bay window. Perfect lighting to capture those bright blue eyes.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D810 and a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. Natural light. No other equipment used.Inspiration
Luna is a Blue Great Dane and an absolute beauty. In this photo she weighed about 13lbs at 8 weeks old. She didn't sit still often and when she finally did, I could not resist capturing her stunning blue eyes and her blue-grey coat and the way it reflected the light like velvet in the morning sun.Editing
I increased the sharpness of the eyes to make them pop a little. In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D810 for most of my shooting and my trusty D90 for backup. My two favourite lenses are my Nikon 50mm f/1.8 and my Nikon 70-200 f/2.8. And I never leave home without speedlights, tripods and recently invested in some Amaran LED lighting modules that are coming in very handy.Feedback
I have spent hours trying to pose my pets to acheive the perfect shot. I find that usually candid moments are often the best. Pets are not the easiest models to work with. Be patient. Have treats. Stay low and most of all let them do their own thing and the shot will come.
