Location
This photo was taken in London, Ontario Canada in a large open field in the middle of the city.Time
It was a very hot day in the early afternoon and the sun was so bright it was difficult to find shade.Lighting
There was no external lighting used for this shot. The sun was harsh.Equipment
I used a Nikon D810 and 50mm lens at 1.4.Inspiration
Our young model was exhausted and did not want to do anymore posing. She just wanted to go home. This was the last photo of the day, when mama scooped her up in her arms and we were headed back to the air conditioned car after a hot, muggy, buggy shoot.Editing
The raw photo was a bit over exposed on the headband due to the extreme sun and the hasty candid nature of the shot. I simply fixed the exposure and set it to monochrome and adjusted the shadows and contrast. In my camera bag
I always have my d810 and a simple 50mm. I carry several other lenses, speedlights, reflectors, and a back up crop sensor for an extra body.Feedback
For a creamy bokeh, focus on your subject and use a high quality portrait lens. I shot at an f1.4 for this shot. I tend to set focus points on the eyes as much as I can. In harsh sunlight, it is always best when your subject is in the shade, but when this is not possible, shoot in manual and widen your aperature.
