Thank you to all the photographers that shared their best pet photos in the Pet Me Please Photo Contest. The contest gallery is one of the cutest one we have ever seen, congratulations to all the participants. A big thank you to Guest Judge Michiel De Lange for his collaboration. Michiel de Lange was born in the late '60's in South Africa, but have been living and working as an architect in a number of countries for the past ten years. His photography work, which he’s been practicing since the late ‘80’s, mainly focuses on capturing people, and their daily lives within different cultural, religious and social environments. He is especially drawn to the real, rustic lives of people earning their living in streets around the world, and has traveled to more than 30 countries to experience these street cultures.

Grand Jury Winner

"As the theme suggests, pets are really all about the loving, emotional bond between human and animal. The Oxford defines "pet" as "A domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure." The winner of this competition could therefore not be without explicitely exploring that special human animal bond. This picture expresses that beautifully, with the little girl looking natural and lost in her affection for the lamb. As for the 2nd place image, the sunset tones really lift the image in a warm, emotional way." - Michiel de Lange

Runner Up

"The strong "guilt" or "sadness" in this boxer's expression, establishing a strong emotional bond with the viewer, especially since the focus on the eye is spot-on. The wide-angle closeup portrait taken from above, with the body blurred in the background, further serves to enhance the vulnerability expressed by the boxer." - Michiel de Lange

Amateur Winner

"Technically a superb photo. The subject really doesn't come across as "ferocious" in this image, but looks rather sedate and contempt. However, the way it's looking seems to challenge the viewer in a "try me" kinda way. A highly accomplished photo, congrats!" - Michiel de Lange

People's Choice

"Beautiful autumn hues adds a warm, loving feeling to this picture and the puppy in it, which is exactly the kind of warm emotions a pet puppy like this would evoke in a person. The sense of wonder it the puppy's eyes enhances it's vulnerability as a young animal ready to get to know the world around it. Technically I would've liked to see the chest and front paws in focus too, but it's only a minor distraction from an otherwise beautiful picture.  " - Michiel de Lange
