Location
This photo was taken at a special location near my home called The Garden of the 5 Senses. My place to unwind. ITime
I walked to the park in late morning specially to capture shots of monarch butterflies that are drawn to these gardens. I try to find a subject with a colorful background to enhance the subject in the foreground. I shot with my aperture wide open to blur the background giving me the blurry colors behind the butterfly.Lighting
I remember it being a partly cloudy day so the bright sunshine was muted by intermittent clouds.Equipment
I used my Nikon d5300 and a 70-200mm lens. I shot handheld that day.Inspiration
I have always been attracted to the beauty of butterflies and I usually found many Monarchs drawn to the specific butterfly plants.Editing
I use Adobe Photoshop and tweaked the clarity and sharpening a bit to improve my image. In my camera bag
I have 2 Nikon cameras and use specific lenses on certain subjects. sigma 18-300, Sigma 150-600mm, Sigma 100mm Macro, a flash and other small accessories. I try to be prepared.Feedback
Scout your location in advance if possible and when shooting butterflies or flowers you should pick a calm, less windy day.
