Location
We are fortunate to live near a pond where wildlife gathers from time to time. This beautiful bald eagle has been seen briefly from time to time as it stops here to rest. I saw it in the high trees across the pond and watched as it slowly glided down to an exposed branch in the water to take a drink. Allowing me capture this picture.Time
I took this shot in mid-afternoon. I hurried down to the pond to capture shots of this incredible bird. It saw me instantly as I approached the edge of the pond but did not fly off. It felt very safe I guess and sat on the branch in the pond for over 10 minutes. I got to capture quite a few images of it drinking the water before it flew off. It was quite the experience.Lighting
It was an overcast day but the reflections in the water were awesome.Equipment
I shot this photograph with a Nikon D7500 and a Sigma 150-600mm lens.Inspiration
I have really gotten into bird photography the past 3-4 years and have been fortunate to see and photograph bald eagles in our area. I am always excited to watch this majestic animal. The reflections in the still pond were almost perfect and they enhanced this image even more.Editing
I use Photoshop for my processing as well as Topaz DeNoise. I lightened and sharpened the image somewhat. In my camera bag
I always carry my camera with3 different lens----the 150-600mmm mentioned earlier, a Nikon 18-300mm, and a 10-20mm ultra wide angle lens. These cover all possible areas. I also keep 2 extra batteries and a few different filters.Feedback
In wildlife photography I have learned to be patient and I try to observe and the habits of the animals as this gives me an edge on anticipating their movements. Allowing me to increase the odds of capturing a better image.
