Time is always a very modern theme. It offers countless interpretations and ideas. I decided to look at time as for what I've seen around me, the way it changed people and things in my life. My mother and her son's daughter are maybe the most meaningful representation of the way time passes by and changes everything forever. Since I got the idea, I saw the whole picture in my mind, and I immediately knew it would be a BW one. So I turned it BW in Photoshop and worked on the contrast (using the curves), adding a little haze and vintage cast. Of course before doing that I had to load the two pictures (one taken with the girl sitting on the chair, with her image in the mirror, and the other with the old lady sitting on the chair and her image in the mirror). What I did in PS is very simple then. I created a mask for one picture and painted the girl inside the mirror so as to obtain what you can see in the final photo.

this makes me sad... truefully an excellent photo.. but the truth that you can see in this photo makes me to live even more.. cuz one day hopefully i will be old, and surely i will look myself in mirror and think of myself at young age.

This has to be one of my most favorite creative shots so far. Very cool!

What an emotion- filled photo. As we age, we still think of ourselves in terms of our glory days. Thought-provoking and a little sad, as well.

Insightful into the real truth of aging. Something maybe nobody has told you is that your body ages but your mind stays young and this is what makes aging hard. Excellent image!!

The photo was taken at my niece's house, in the front yard. The two subjects in the picture are my mother her other son's daughter.Time
It was a cloudy day, late afternoon. I remember waiting for the best conditions of light, as I generally prefer to not use flashes. I also remember moving the whole setting around a bit so as to find the best light exposure.Lighting
As I stated above, no flashes were used in this picture. I generally prefer using natural light.Equipment
I used my only camera, a Canon 5D mkII and a 50mm f1.8. The space wouldn't allow me to use my 85mm 1.8, I had to be very close to the subjects. I also used a tripod, as the idea I had in mind required taking various shots with the exact same frame and composition. And last but not least, even though this one is probably not to be regarded as a piece of "equipment", I had my other niece hold the mirror, so the mirror you see in the picture is being held up by a 14-year-old girl sitting behind it :) The clock we used was a gift from my granddad a few years before he passed away. It's a Breil and it's from 1975.Inspiration

My Canon, a 50mm 1.8, an 85mm 1.8, a tripod, batteries and cables. Oh and a couple flash lights, just in case.Feedback
Well, I love simplicity and natural light. This one here actually goes a bit further: post production plays a necessary role in the making. To make anything similar, first just make sure you know how to use Photoshop levels and masks. The rest is really easy stuff. No special effects at all.
