Super photo in B&W. Not a medium that I use a lot. This will inspire me to do so.

Location
This shot was taken at our local zoo in Peoria, IL. The Africa exhibit, where the lion resides, had just opened. I was excited about taking shots there because the new cages were photo-friendly and had places for the animals to sit that provides clear shots for photographers.Time
I believe this was taken mid-afternoon. It was a cloudy day, though, so the midday sun was filtered.Lighting
Yes, the overcast day really helped filter out the harsh light that I would have had to deal with at that time of day.Equipment
Nikon D600, Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 lens, UV filter and no tripod or flashInspiration
This lion was sitting on a rock looking so majestic. When I saw how proud he looked, I knew it would be a good shot.Editing
Yes, this was edited in LR where I sharpened it and added clarity. Then I did the bnw conversion in Silver Efx Pro II.In my camera bag
Nikon d600, Nikkor 85mm f/1.8, Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8, Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8, several SD cards, extra batteries and a charger, an external hard drive to upload pics to, and my tripod.Feedback
The more photos you take, the better. Take shots from all different angles and lighting conditions. Usually, one of the pics will stand out from the rest.
