This shot has been manipulated on purpose! Because airplanes played such an important role in WWII, I thought adding the plane to the WWII Memorial in Washington DC was largely symbolic. It is not intended to appear real!

You are very clear that this is a manipulation, which I appreciate. But why did you not choose then to perfectly center the plane in the opening?

Location
This was taken at the WWII Memorial in Washington D. C.Time
I was shooting in midday sunlight, so I felt that I needed to get creative to overcome the harsh light.Lighting
Since the light was not ideal, I tried to make the shot about perspective instead. The sky, clouds, and foliage grabbed my attention as well as the details of the memorial.Equipment
This was a handheld shot taken with a Nikon D600 and a Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 wide angle lens. I didn't use a flash or filter for the shot.Inspiration
When I looked up and saw all of the details in the memorial structure and the pillars converging to a central point, I thought it would make a great perspective shot.Editing
The shot was completely edited in LightRoom with the exception of the airplane. I added the plane after the fact in PicsArt. My intension was never to mislead the viewer into thinking the plane was original. It simply occurred to me that planes played a big role in WWII and having one in the shot would be symbolic. I rarely manipulate photos, but this one seemed to be improved by the manipulation. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D600, a Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8, a Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8, a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8, a teleconverter, filters, SD cards, and a back up battery as well as a tripod.Feedback
The best advice that I can give is to let the photo dictate the edit. To me, the image has a life of its own. Because of this notion, there is no real "style" to my photos because each one requires a unique edit that enhances that photo individually. Go with your gut and be creative! :)
