Bodie State Historic Park is a genuine California gold-mining ghost town. Visitors can walk down the deserted streets of a town that once had a population of nearly 10,000 people. The town is named for Waterman S. Body (William Bodey), who had discovered small amounts of gold in hills north of Mono Lake. In 1875, a mine cave-in revealed pay dirt, which led to purchase of the mine by the Standard Company in 1877. People flocked to Bodie and transformed it from a town of a few dozen to a boomtown.

I love this viewpoint of the pharmacist's house. I've tried to get it a few times but just can't. I really need a fisheye lens!. The B&W gives it a dramatic look, Well done! P.S. have you every taken a photography tour into the buildings? It's certainly worth the cost of the tour. There are only a few photographers that are allowed to take groups in.

Mark as far as entering the buildings there really are only a few photographers that have the parks permission to tke small groups in. They only allow 3 or 4 people in each one at a time, and there is a ranger with you the entire time. The trips are usually planned 6 or 8 months in advance. I think they allow a few people in specific buildings on Friends of Bodie day.

P.S. the Bodie calendar is filled with images that are
sent in from people who have visited it. FYI they don't tak e B&W images just color. If you would like one of your pictures featured go to their website to get all the info.Hope I'm not boring you with all this info.
