This is a shot I took when on a trip to brighton with my girlfriend. I was there to photograph the starlings on the pier. However as I was there with my girlfriend I found myself exploring the city. Brighton turned out to be a very tolerable city (which is actually a big complememnt coming from someone who avoids citys at all costs).
After exploring the famous "lanes" I noticed a surprising number of homeless. I had never taken street photos before so I didn't really know how to approach taking the photo. I decided to be british, I walked over and asked politely if I could take this gentleman's photograph (after putting some money in his cup of course). He seemed almost apologetic when he said yes but that he didn't like showing his face. He suggested pulling his balaclava up a bit further over his nose. As I had seen him sat like that earlier I saw no problem with this and gratefully accepted. I came away with what I like to believe is a very impactful photograph.
