it could be that theuse of color merely puts the focus on the children and not the rides, but i see symbolism ( even if it is not intended or really there!) i see the use of color as a way of noting that the children are from the present, but the use of black and white for the carnival rides as showing they are from the a previous time when childhood activitity was physical, and more than a game platform or a phone.
