This is a view of Cannon Beach from Ecola State Park on the Northern Oregon Coast. As you can see it was a foggy day, but I think it adds to the mood of the image. Taken hand held with D700 and 70-200 f/2.8 VRI zoom at 70mm. f/7.1, 1/1000, ISO 200. Processed in Capture NX2. Edit 2/25/16 reprocessed in PSCS6 Extended using Picture Postcard Workflow.

Thank you so much for the comment, it hits the nail on the head of the problem with trying to photograph iconic sites in the first place. How you you make your image different from all the thoiusands that are already flooding the internet. I shoot a lot of travel locations and I fight this particular problem all the time. Can you do an image that is different yet recognizable? Since I often shoot on tours that are not photo tours ( this was not a tour) I am stuck with the situation I have in front of me with no control of time of day or the number of tourists I might encounter. In this case, my wife and I were on an unstructured trip around Oregon and we happened to stop here by chance, and luckily it was foggy. Without the fog, I think it would have had much less impact-so I got lucky.
