Love this, and the way that the rocks break the reflection only to have it begin again. Stunning.

Convict Lake Resort, I was just there a couple weeks ago. Gorgeous place.

Location
I took this photo in Convict Lake, CaliforniaTime
I arrived at the location at five thirty in the morning so I have time to work on my composition. It was a really cold Winter morning.Lighting
Light changed very fast. You need to keep checking your metering. I set my aperture at 5/6 and kept working just my exposure.Equipment
I used a Canon 50D and a EF15mm f/2.8 Fisheye. Tripod and remote to avoid camera shaking.Inspiration
I was inspired by my husband's work, who is a really talented landscape photographer. We met on Flickr six years ago while admiring each others work. We finally got together last year. I moved to California and he took me to so many places my first month here. This was one of my favorite.Editing
I imported the RAW file into Lightroom. I adjusted the light, color balance, removed any chromatic aberration and lens distortion. In my camera bag
Now I use a Canon 5D Mark II. I also carry my EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, my remote, my 50mm and my Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
I'm not an expert. I'm still learning. I'm lucky to be married to a very skilled photographer who is also a wonderful teacher. My advice is always get at least two hours before to the location so you have enough time to work on your composition. Watch your foreground, leading lines. Once you have your composition, stick to it. Avoid going all around because you are going to miss the perfect light. I promise.
