Great portrait. Love the eyes and hair. Interesting. Keeps your attention. Congrats on your editor's choice award. Very deserving.

Location
I took this photo of my husband at our home studio. He came home late at night from a business trip and was really tired. I thought he looked so beautiful and wanted to capture his expression.Time
Took it at our home studio at about midnight, which is a really good time of the day to photograph this kind of portraits.Lighting
This lighting set up is very simple yet effective for most portraits. I used an AB-800 socked beauty dish camera right and an AB-800 with a 40 degree grid to light the thunder gray background.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a 24-105 mm lens.Inspiration
The melancholy I saw in my husband's eyes.Editing
I processed the Raw file in Lightroom and then made some levels adjustments and sharpen it in Photoshop. For the skin I used Frequency separation technique. In my camera bag
I always carry my 5D Mark II, 24-105 mm lens, and a 50mm macro lens. ND filters and a polarizer.Feedback
Make a connection with your subject. Make them feel comfortable before you start shooting.
