Beautiful. I love how the lady but is the center of focus while the rest is slightly blurred.

This photo was taken at the Davis Arboretum. It's a wonderful place to go for anything macro or floral.Time
It was taken on February 27, 2016 at approximate 12:30 p.m.Lighting
The day was pretty overcast but armed with the Canon twinlights I didn't worry about the lighting. Plus when you're getting that close the natural light gets blocked pretty good at times anyways.Equipment
This was taken using my Canon EOS 5D Mark II with the Canon EF 180mmm f/3.5L Macro USM lens. I really love this lens and having the ability to get a photo like this is one of the reasons why. I also opted to use the Canon MT-24EX Macro Twin Lite Flash with an adaptor to fit the lens. That's it for the equipment as the flash during the day enabled me to shoot fast enough to handhold for the shot.Inspiration
Inspiration was being out with a friend for the sole purpose of getting some macro shots and having fun. She had found the ladybug so once she finished I set in to see what I could get while she photographed the flowers by it. Once I saw the results I was very glad I did!Editing
I generally like to keep the postprocessing to a minimum even though I shoot RAW. The only thing I adjusted when opening the raw file was a bump up in the exposure (+0.6) and a bump in the whites (+25) to bring out a little more brightness and contrast. Everything else I left as is. Didn't even feel a need to crop this one.In my camera bag
My main camera bag generally has the Canon 5DMII in it with it's kit 24-105L lens as well as 1 other lens that will be best suited for the day (the 180mm macro or the 70-200mm are the main ones chosen). A Speedlite will generally be available just in case as well as generally stuff (cleaning, batteries, cards, etc.). I now have a run around bag as well that carries Canon Rebel T5i so a good camera is always on hand. That bag has it's kit lens (18-55 stm) as well as a 70-300mm USM lens. This bag was set up for daily travels and commute so I would no longer have to miss those shots when I didn't want to haul the big one around.Feedback
My advice for anyone trying for something like this is to just get out there and shoot. Get a good macro and practice. A good flash that you can have off camera (not in the hot shoe or built in) so you ca get lighting on the subject will take some practice but can really make a difference! Then go out and take the time to look at the flowers and leaves. Take time to look under rocks and sticks as well as from under neath. You may think something isn't worth shooting but even the things you may not like can result in a very cool photo! Also, don't be afraid to fail! You won't succeed if you don't try. :)
