A locomotive similar to that of the British Rail standard class locomotive called 'Evening Star' which is a preserved British steam locomotive completed in 1960, changed identities on saturday to bring a national treasure to life.
Evening Star was the last steam locomotive to be built by British Railways. It holds the distinction of being the only British main line steam locomotive earmarked for preservation from the date of construction. It was the 999th locomotive of the whole British Railways Standard range.
The original locomotive is sat in the British Rail Museum in York.

Location
I took the photo at the Great Central Railway in Loughborough. The only active double railway running steam trains in the UK.Time
The shot was taken around 2pm, after a rather nice slice of cake!Lighting
The train was heading into the tunnel but luckily the sun was behind me casting beautiful light onto the locomotive.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 + 18-105mm. No flash or tripod.Inspiration
I have an unconditional love for steam. They're a living breathing machine. You can almost hear the noise of the engine as the steam floats in the air. The driver hanging out of the window also brings human interest into the shot & gives a sense of size of these beautiful locomotives.Editing
I simply turned it to black & white. In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D800 & Nikon D7000 with sigma 10-20mm, sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art. Sigma 150-500mm & a SB800 speedlightFeedback
Watch & find routines. Don't just shoot, wait for the right moment. Get into a different position from everyone else.
