These iconic trees on Bregagh Road have been used as a filming location in HBO's epic series Game of Thrones, representing the King's Road.
They are one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland and a popular attraction for tourists from across the world.
The road is reputedly haunted by a spectral ‘Grey Lady’ who appears at dusk among the trees. She silently glides along the roadside and disappears as she passes the last beech tree.

Wow! So eye catching...yet at the same time, there is something very eerie about it. I feel like I could get gobbled up if I were to pass through here. Really nice capture!

Congratulations on your award. What a beautifully crafted photograph. Depth of field, color, and just pure magic are the words that I believe appropriate for this image. I would love to have a copy of this image to hang on my wall.

Beautifully haunting! It makes me want to walk down that road, although afraid, it looks very cool!

Location
This photo was taken at the world famous 'The Dark Hedges' at Armoy, Northern Ireland. It's popularity exploded after being featured in the award-winning Game Of Thrones program where fans of it will recognise it as the 'King's Road'.Time
I had set out early morning for this shot to try to avoid the numerous tourists who flock to it.Lighting
I was very fortunate when I got there that there was low-level atmospheric light piercing the upper foliage of the trees which helped add a bit of mystery and intrigue to the image.Equipment
I generally travel light so all I had was my Canon Mark III and a 70-200mm lens. No tripod was used and the panoramic was created with a series of photos stitched together in editing software.Inspiration
I love trees and the interesting shapes they create with their shadows and the dapple effect of light bouncing through the leaves, these old beech trees are the most famous in Northern Ireland so it would have been a sin not to visit them and try to capture them in all their beauty.Editing
Post processing was first done in lightroom and then taken into editing software to stitch several photos together to make a panoramic. In my camera bag
I tend to do a lot of walking and climbing when out and about so I only carry a Canon Mark III, 70-200mm lens, Sony Alpha 7II and FE 3.5-5.6/28-70. It is not much but it works for me.Feedback
My only advice is to take ten minutes to sit and take in the surroundings of where you are before starting to shoot. Don't be afraid to walk around and look at the subject from different places as sometimes the best spots are the ones that are not that obvious.
