Location
It was taken at a place owned by the RSPCB called Pulborough Brooks in Sussex, England in 2014 and was the first time I have ever photographed dragonflies and so over the next few days I sat and watched and learned how these amazing hunters of the skies hunted and learning about there flight lines which enabled me to take so many amazing dragonfly photos.Time
It was taken around midday when the sun was at its highest and the dragons love the heat and are out hunting.Lighting
Natural light!Equipment
A Nikon D5000 with a Tamron 70-300mm Telephoto with Macro.Inspiration
The Amazing flying & Hunting skills of these formidable little hunters, the beautiful design and the colours they have make for some beautiful photos if the time is taken.Editing
I always shot in Raw so all my photos need to be edited, Raw is like the digital negative of film cameras and in my mind the only way worth shooting but Jpeg or Raw ?? You decide! In my camera bag
I have just bought a new Camera and lens by Nikon the lens being 18-200mm which covers a lot of lenses plus I have my Tamron 70-300mm for that little extra it has.Feedback
Sit and watch the Dragonflies by a small pond if possible but always have your Camera ready, watch them and you will see they fly in similar patterns and will rest from time to time choosing a certain branch or rock and tend to always settle at the same place so you can move round and position yourself knowing at any minute they will return, I sat for hours and learned a few dragonflies resting areas and that's how I got my shot!
