Well I have never been to Oregon but this would certainly make me want to visit. Stunning.

Love the 'diamond' created by the sail and its reflection! Congratulations!

Location
I was at Orchard Point Park on the banks of the Fern Ridge Reservoir, outside Eugene, Oregon.Time
It was around 6:30pm, about 1/2 hour before sunset. I was getting as many scenes photographed at possible before the sun set because I love early morning and late afternoon natural lighting the best.Lighting
I'm a novice, or better yet hobbyist, photographer using a Canon Powershot point & shoot so most of my photographs are taken in natural light as this one was. I will adjust and use the built-in pop-up flash, on occasion, to light up the foreground.Equipment
I use Canon cameras almost exclusively. This photograph was taken with a Canon PowerShot SX230 HS and it was hand-held as I walked the entire parkInspiration
I have a small "bucket list" of photos that include a beautiful sailboat on a serene, tree-lined lake. When I got to the park, there were sailboats but they were well beyond the ability of the zoom in my camera lens. My son alerted me to the sailboat coming into the harbor and I had to run around a footbridge. I started shooting as soon as I a clear sightline and kept shooting as I walked and tracked the boat into harbor. I wanted the sun glinting between the sails...that was the shot I wanted most. It wasn't until after the boat furled sails and I stopped shooting that I realized I was ankle-deep in the lake!Editing
I only adjusted brightness to reveal some background detail. In my camera bag
Camera, extra batteries, an extra memory card, microfiber cloth, and a flash diffuser for a DSLR that I found at a thrift store and hand-hold in front of the flash sometimes.Feedback
If there's a lake, pond, reservoir, or other body of water with a harbor nearby, pack an ice chest and plan on spending the day there. You have a great chance of catching out-going sailboats in the morning and incoming sailboats in the evening. Depending on the weather, you might have sailboats on a glassy lake, mirroring sky and clouds around the boat(s) to shoot throughout the day.
