Congratulations for finalist in Large Mammals. Have to say I was a bit disappointed as I had two in top 10 first and second week but then nothing. Sometimes I do not understand the judging, Oh well.

This is so cute. Reminds me of how my cat slept. I also played a game with my
cat covering my face like this but my cat pushed my hand until I have in.

Location
This photo is 3 in a series of 3 shots captured of this lioness; a rescue that lives @ The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO. This place is incredible and they do amazing things for all of their rescued animals.Time
Moment was captured in mid afternoon in May of 2014; inside the tent covered Lion enclosure. Where all of the lions have access to the inside and outside areas.Lighting
It was a sunny day, although she is under a massive tent. The sunlight is obscured.Equipment
Camera: Sony A580; Lens: Sigma 150 - 500mm; hand held shot taken at 300mm; shutter: 1/320; ISO: 1600; Aperture: f/5.6Inspiration
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is one of our favorite places to visit in Colorado. What they do for the hundreds of animals they have rescued over the years is remarkable. They have built the "mile in the sky"; an elevated walkway that gives a visitor the opportunity to view most of the animals at close range, but without stressing the animals. We go there often to see just what amazing things we can capture, and this day we were lucky enough to capture this image of the beautiful lion.Editing
The tent caused heavy yellowing, so I had to adjust the color back to as close to natural as possible. Sharpened the her face a bit. The original photo actually was inverted, I was looking straight down and she was upside down. I had to flip the photo to its current format. In my camera bag
Cameras: Sony A77 & A580; Lenses: Sigma 150-500mm, 18-55mm kit lens, Sigma 18-250mm; mixed filters & tripodFeedback
This is one of the best places for beginners & Pros to practice wildlife photography. Your viewpoint from the elevated walkway is unmatched by any zoo or sanctuary we have ever visited. We have had amazing success with our visits to this sanctuary. They have every animal you can think of; Grizzlys, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Fox, Tigers, Lions, Wolf Hybirds, Leopards, Servals, Bobcats, and many many more.
